SunLedger for ServiceM8 — Help
SunLedger is a CRM for Australian solar companies. The SunLedger add-on sends a solar company's installs into the ServiceM8 of whoever installs them, either the company's own crew or a contractor, and brings the booking and completion back to the customer's record in SunLedger.

What it costs
The add-on is free to connect. Installers pay nothing and need no SunLedger account. The solar companies that send jobs pay for their SunLedger subscription; see pricing.
For solar companies: setting up
Owners and admins set this up.
- In SunLedger, open Settings → Integrations → ServiceM8.
- If your own crew uses your company's ServiceM8, press Connect ServiceM8, sign in to ServiceM8 and allow access. You are brought back to SunLedger, connected.
- In Settings → Installers, mark the installers who are your own crew as Our own crew. Their jobs go to your ServiceM8.
- Invite each contractor who uses their own ServiceM8 (next section).
Coming from the ServiceM8 Add-on Store? Press Connect, choose I’m a solar company on SunLedger, sign in to SunLedger, and you continue straight to ServiceM8.
Inviting a contractor
- In Settings → Installers, find the contractor and press Invite to ServiceM8.
- Send the link by email or text. It comes from you, in your words, and you can edit it before it goes.
- When they connect, their row reads ServiceM8 connected, with their ServiceM8 name.
An invite link works once. Sending a new one withdraws the old one. If a contractor stops taking your jobs, your owners and admins are told, and you can still send them the job pack link the usual way.
Your three choices
On the ServiceM8 card in Settings → Integrations:
- When the installer books a date: Show it, I'll decide (the default; their date appears beside yours and you can press Use their date), Fill our date if we haven't set one, or Always use the installer's date. Your install date is yours unless you choose otherwise.
- Sending jobs: When I press Send (the default), or Automatically, as soon as a quote is signed and the property has an installer who uses ServiceM8.
- Emailing the alerts (booked, completed, returned, an installer stopping): Each person chooses in Settings → Notifications (the default), Owners and admins, or A company inbox you name.
Sending a job
- Open the customer and choose the installer for the property, in Install & compliance.
- Press Send to ServiceM8 on the same card. The quote doesn't need to be signed; the crew may need the job first.
- The card shows In <installer>'s ServiceM8 as Work Order #N · not booked yet, and the customer's timeline records it.
A customer with more than one property: each property's job goes to that property's installer, with that property's address.
What comes back
- Booked: when the installer schedules the job, the card shows the day, time and who is going. If it differs from your date, you see both and can press Use their date.
- Completed: the card shows the completion day. Your install date is never moved by itself; press Use <day> if the STC claim needs the real install day.
- Returned: if the installer marks the job Unsuccessful, the card says so and asks you to choose another installer.
Each of these rings the bell for whoever sent the job and the customer's account manager, adds a line to the customer's timeline, and can be emailed (see your choices above). Changes usually arrive within seconds. SunLedger also checks every hour, in case a message from ServiceM8 was missed.
Changing, withdrawing, sending again
- Changing the date: if you change the property's install date while the job is open, a note goes on the installer's Work Order with the new date.
- Withdraw: closes the Work Order in their ServiceM8 (marked Unsuccessful). You can send it again later.
- A different installer: choose them and press Send. The first installer's Work Order is closed for you.
- Send again after a completed job, for a return visit or the next stage, makes a new Work Order. The completed one stays as it is.
For installers
- Open the invite link the solar company sent you and press Connect ServiceM8. From the Add-on Store, press Connect and choose I’m an installer.
- Sign in to ServiceM8 and allow access.
- You land on your SunLedger page, sunledger.com.au/sm8, which lists the companies that send you jobs.
One ServiceM8 account serves every company you work for. On your page you can stop a company (it's told, and its jobs reach you as a job pack link instead), start it again, or disconnect ServiceM8 from SunLedger entirely. You need no SunLedger account, and it costs you nothing.
What a job looks like in ServiceM8
- A Work Order, with the solar company as the client and the property as the job address.
- The homeowner as the job contact: name and mobile.
- The description: the system (panels, inverters, battery), the requested install date, the job pack link and the company's quote number (also in the PO number).
- A job note with the job pack link you can click: roof layout, equipment, strings and checklist.
Book it and complete it the way you always do; the solar company sees both. Prices, rebates and finance are never sent.
If something doesn't work
- "ServiceM8 needs reconnecting": the connection was removed in ServiceM8 or expired. Connect again from the same place. Your links to companies are kept.
- The job pack link isn't clickable: reconnect once, to allow job notes.
- No Send to ServiceM8 button: the property has no installer chosen, or the installer isn't connected yet. The card says which.
